Craft Dialogue was launched November 2018 in Murano (ITA), in the presence of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah.
The project aims to create four limited-edition collections marrying the centuries-old Emirati crafts of Talli (intricate handwoven braids), Safeefah (palm-frond weaves), and pottery, with delicate Italian Murano glass, and fine Spanish leather in a way that each collection represents a cultural and artistic dialogue aiming to introduce these crafts in an innovative context and standards.

The specular similarities collection explores analogies between materials, craft, cultures and heritage.
The collection wants to enhance craft by using parametric design and digital fabrication tools. By doing that, we are opening a new craft era in which tradition and innovation are merged.
The working process develops aims to automatize and speed-up all the low value adding by using IT, while the craftsman is still the only “subject” entitled to directly manipulate the material.

This collection aims to demonstrate how tradition and innovation could coexist within the same project co-living and feeding each other. Also, is a daring experiment on how glass and clay can be part of the very same object, creating symbiotic and never seen before interactions.
 
The collection fuses Emirati clay with Italian Murano glass and make two “transitions” composed by couple of vases, lamps and phone chargers.
