Venice is a fragile city.
It literally floats on the surface of the water and is part on a delicate ecosystem as the Venetian lagoon.
Human activities and mass tourism overloads the city that is facing serious problems related to the waste management system. In fact, most of the waste produced in Venice is not recycled due to bad habits and structural limits related to its pick-up system.
This research tries to understand how new technology can improve the waste management system in Venice, promoting a Circular Economy approach.
The project aims to replace the actual pick up system with a automated swarm of drones and autonomous vehicles managed by an artificial intelligence, able to coordinate the system as well as reducing recycling errors or waste spills.
The research is the continuation of precious caps and is part ok a book published by Anteferma Edizioni.
